Glacier View Lodge

Glacier View Lodge is a seasonal hotel inside the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre on the Icefields Parkway, beside the Athabasca Glacier. It’s a practical overnight base if you want more time at the icefield or a guided glacier or Skywalk outing. The lodge shares a building with a busy daytime attraction, so this feels more like a roadside hub than a secluded wilderness stay while tour groups are arriving.

The guest lounge and dining windows look toward the glacier. Some rooms are also advertised with glacier or mountain views, but room views vary by assignment, so confirm the view category when you book. An overnight stay can make an early glacier trip and an evening Skywalk visit easier to fit in; some guests say those bookend trips feel less crowded than the daytime rush.

Altitude is the sit-down restaurant; Chalet is a cafeteria and grab-and-go counter, and there’s also a Starbucks in the Discovery Centre. Menus and services are seasonal, so don’t count on a particular dish. For lodge check-in, use the upper Banff-side parking lot and the access pin in your booking confirmation. The lower Jasper-side lot serves Adventure and Skywalk visitors; accessible parking spaces are in the upper lot.

The Icefields Parkway has limited services and no cell coverage, so plan fuel, food and communication before you set out. The hotel and guided activities operate seasonally, and some outings depend on weather; check current dates and schedules before planning a stay.

Some older references call the hotel Glacier View Inn. That’s the same accommodation now operated as Glacier View Lodge, not a second stop.
