Beauvert Lake

Overview

Tucked beside the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Beauvert Lake (Lac Beauvert) is small, ridiculously photogenic, and an easy win if you’re based near town. Its name literally means “beautiful green,” and the color delivers—glacier-fed, clear, and vividly blue‑green.

What Makes It Stand Out

This isn’t just another roadside lake. You get intimate, up‑close shoreline walking, big views from the lodge area and boat dock, and color that pops when the light is right. It’s also a remnant of a much larger post‑glacial lake that once filled the valley—today’s Beauvert sits alongside siblings like Patricia, Pyramid, Edith, and Annette.

What You’ll See

• Water: Crystal‑clear, emerald tones that shift with the sun.
• Vistas: Forested shores and mountain panoramas; sunset light really wakes up the color.
• Wildlife: Elk often linger near the golf course, loons call across the water, and bears occasionally pass through—especially in spring.

Things to Do

• Walk the loop: A mostly flat 3.9–4 km trail rings the lake and takes about an hour. Family‑friendly and scenic the whole way.
• Paddle or swim: Canoes, kayaks, and SUPs are popular in summer; the lodge boathouse rents gear. The water is cold but swimmable on warm days.
• Fishing: Anglers target lake trout here.

Practicalities

• Access: The main trail access is from the Jasper Park Lodge side, with a dedicated parking area for lake visitors.
• Facilities: Expect basic trailhead infrastructure and plan ahead; the adjacent resort area has services and a boathouse for rentals, but it’s not a park day‑use hub.
• Safety: Stay on the signed path near the golf course—stray golf balls happen. Carry bear spray and stay alert, especially in spring.
