About Lac Beauvert Loop
If you want classic Jasper scenery without breaking a sweat, Lac Beauvert Loop circles the emerald lake beside Jasper Park Lodge and its golf course. The complete loop is about 2.2 miles (3.5 km) and essentially flat, making it a scenic stroll rather than a strenuous hike.
Start at Parking Lot 17 at the south end of Lac Beauvert. Cross the service road to the lakeshore path and follow the signed Trail 4a loop around the lake, including the short road detour near the golf course. The route returns to the same south-end access. Plan about an hour at a relaxed pace. The tread is mostly unpaved, with wet or muddy sections after rain or during spring conditions.
Expect calm water, lodgepole pine and spruce, and mountain views. Elk are often near the golf course, and bears are possible in spring; give wildlife plenty of room. Facilities and boat and bike rentals at Jasper Park Lodge make this an easy add-on near town.
May through September is generally the easiest season for a drier walk; early morning is quieter and often gives the best reflections. In winter, the flat loop can be used for walking or snowshoeing when conditions allow, but expect ice and cold. Keep dogs leashed, stay on the marked lakeshore path, and check Parks Canada's trail information before setting out.
