11 Town trail

Jasper Discovery Trail (Trail 11) is a signed loop around Jasper’s townsite, linking forested edges, open valley views, and short in-town sections. It is a shared route for hiking and cycling, marked by bear-symbol signs; you can join it at several points, with the primary trailhead at the junction of Connaught Drive and Highway 93A North/Hazel Avenue.

The full loop is about 5.2 miles (8.3 km) and typically takes 2–3 hours. It gains about 120 m overall on a rolling route; the published distance is the total loop distance, not a one-way corridor. Surfaces alternate among gravel, dirt, and paved town paths.

Use townsite street parking near the junction, or join closer to lodging and town services. No shuttle is needed for this loop, and its multiple access points make it useful as an orientation walk or bike ride.

The trail stays close to town, so expect shared-use etiquette, road and path crossings, and some urban noise. Dogs must be leashed; winter snow and ice can make footing slippery. Watch for elk and follow the bear markers where the loop passes through forest edge.
