Buck Rock Campground is a five-site, first-come Forest Service campground at about 7,600 feet in Sequoia National Forest, east of Grant Grove. It suits a simple overnight near Big Meadow Creek, Buck Rock Lookout and trails into Jennie Lakes Wilderness. The lookout is a separate destination, not part of the campground. Although it serves the Kings Canyon visitor area, the campground is outside Kings Canyon National Park.

From Grant Grove, drive 7 miles southeast on Generals Highway, then 4 miles east on Big Meadow Road (Forest Road 14S11). There are no reservations. Forest Service campgrounds in this area open seasonally, with timing affected by snowmelt and weather. The National Park Service lists a 16-foot maximum RV length, so this is for small rigs.

Every site has a picnic table and fire ring, and one vault toilet serves the campground. There is no potable water, food storage locker or trash service: bring drinking water, secure food in bear-resistant storage and pack out all rubbish. A fire ring does not override restrictions, so check current Forest Service fire rules before lighting a fire.

Several trails pass through the area, including routes toward Jennie Lakes Wilderness; the Forest Service notes trout fishing in streams along nearby trails. Hume Lake is about 15 miles away for a separate outing with swimming, non-motorized boating, fishing and hiking. Plan those as trips from camp rather than services at the campground.
