Ben Gullipen is a 3.2-mile out-and-back from the A81 to a 414-metre summit above Callander. A forestry track climbs to the radio masts, then you return the same way; allow 2–3 hours. It suits a half-day slot when you want a steady hill climb without a long approach. The path is easy to follow, and the effort comes from the continuous ascent rather than technical ground.

Start at roadside parking beside the gated forestry access on the A81, about 3½ miles from Callander. Follow the main track uphill, ignoring right-hand forks until the masts at the top. A longer walk from Bridgend adds several miles. The rough, partly pathless continuation west to Lochan Balloch is a different outing with a separate exit, so plan transport if you choose it. Dogs are allowed under Scottish access rights; keep them under control, and close at heel or on a short lead in woodland and grassland during bird-nesting season.

The open summit looks west to Loch Venachar and Ben Venue, north to Ben Ledi and Stuc a’Chroin, and south toward the Wallace Monument; the Menteith Hills lie east. The ridge sits on the Highland Boundary Fault, a striking natural transition between Highlands and Lowlands. For a photo, step back from the mast compound and frame its base against the wider view.
