The Glacier Trail is an easy, low-level 3-mile (4.7 km) loop from North Ancaster Square, about 1½ hours. This includes the short out-and-back to Callander Moraine; skip it for a shorter circuit. From Main Street, Roman Camp Esker leads to the River Teith and the former Dunblane to Callander railway cycleway.

Turn off Main Street at the Roman Camp Walk sign and climb the bank above the Roman Camp Hotel garden. The ridge is an esker, formed by a subglacial stream as ice retreated. Follow it to the River Teith, through an industrial estate and up Geisher Road. Beyond Stirling Road, a lane beside Mellis Burn reaches the cycleway. A steep optional spur climbs to Drumdhu Wood’s 150-metre moraine ridge, marking the glacier’s former end.

Paths include surfaced sections, cycleway and uneven ground that can be muddy; the route is easy, with a brief steep climb on the spur. For the return, follow Livingstone and Murdiston Avenues past the site of Callander’s first station and goods yard. The old stationmaster’s house remains on rocks above the route. Go under the bridge, between the car park and bowling green, then cross Glenartney Road to Ancaster Square. Dogs may use the route under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code when kept under proper control.
