Echo River Spring

Start at the Green River Ferry parking area and follow the short, nearly level paved loop to the spring platform. The route is marked accessible and has wayside exhibits and benches; the same parking area also serves river users. The loop is listed at different lengths in park materials, so plan for a short walk rather than relying on a precise mileage. Restrooms and picnic tables are at or near the trailhead.

Sinkholes south of the park drain into the cave system. The water can travel more than seven miles underground before it emerges from springs along the Green River. This little pool is one visible part of that much larger hidden drainage network. The connected cave groundwater also supports eyeless crayfish, cave fish and cave shrimp, though those are cave-dwelling animals, not wildlife to expect at the platform.

The loop has a second observation platform at Accessory Spring. It's a separate spring, so keep it distinct from Echo River Spring as you walk the route.
