Longmire General Store

Longmire General Store is a small shop beside the National Park Inn in Longmire’s historic district, inside a log building from 1911. It’s handy for snacks, limited groceries, basic camping and picnic supplies, gifts, and souvenirs. Think of it as a top-up shop, not a full grocery run. The inn’s restaurant is a separate business right next door if you’re looking for a meal.

The store carries practical park supplies as well as drinks, snacks, apparel, and gifts. Winter clothing and equipment are part of its seasonal offering, with some equipment rentals; don’t count on every item being available on every visit. The shop is compact, so its value is convenience more than a broad selection.

The railroad that built the original National Park Inn also built this store in 1911, using local materials in the rustic style of early park buildings. It first served as a clubhouse for inn guests, then as employee housing and a Hiker’s Center before becoming the General Store. It sits within Longmire’s historic district, and the walking-tour map is available at the nearby Longmire Museum.

The log walls, covered porch and two gabled dormers make the building worth a look even if you’re not shopping. The path runs right past the front, where you can frame the porch and roof together; an exhibit panel there gives the building’s history.
