High Bridge is a historic ranger-station area and bridge over the Stehekin River, 11 miles up the valley from Stehekin Landing. It is known for the rushing river gorge below the bridge and serves as the public shuttle's turnaround during shuttle season. Stop for the view, or use it as a starting point for longer walks.

Stehekin has no road connection to the rest of Washington; people reach it by foot, boat or plane, then travel through the valley on foot, by bike or by shuttle. High Bridge is 11 miles from the landing, so build the visit around the seasonal shuttle connection or allow time for the long valley approach. There is a picnic table, interpretive information and a vault or composting toilet. Potable water is not documented at the stop, so plan supplies before heading up-valley.

A trail junction as well as a turnaroundThe Pacific Crest Trail crosses High Bridge.

The Pacific Crest Trail crosses High Bridge. Its southbound route toward Stevens Pass is about a quarter-mile up the road; the northbound route toward Rainy Pass starts just behind the horse corral. The valley road continues about two miles to the High Bridge and Tumwater backcountry camps, where overnight stays require a permit.

The Forest Service built High Bridge as a base for fire and trail crews working in the high country. The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed the buildings and horse corral in 1933–34; the historic station is listed on the National Register. People have used the area for nearly 10,000 years. The main house is a summer residence for park staff, so keep to visitor areas and respect their privacy.
