Faust Log Cabin is a two-story, hand-hewn log vacation house on the bluff beside Inspiration Point, above Glen Lake. Its covered porch, long upper dormer, orange-trimmed windows and tall stone chimney make the exterior worth a closer look. A short dirt path leads to a stone bench facing the lake and Alligator Hill. This is a compact stop, with the cabin and the view doing most of the work.

George and Mary Faust built the cabin in 1929 and named it Glen Craig. They were from Chicago, and Mary first learned about the dunes in her botany classes. The Fausts bought the property from Glen Haven lumberman D.H. Day. The cabin sits in a landscape already shaped by the area's logging history.

Mary spent up to nine months a year at the cabin for about 50 years; her family joined her in summer. One annual outing began with a boat ride to Little Glen, followed by a climb up the wooded route toward Lake Michigan. After lunch, the family rolled large Ice Age boulders down the steep dune face before making the return climb. It's an unusually personal story of how the Fausts used the lakeshore.

Before the cabin, this bluff was part of the lumber trade: logs were skidded down a slide in winter and taken to D.H. Day's mill. For photos, frame the whole cabin with the surrounding trees, then use the bench for a wider view over Glen Lake toward Alligator Hill. A picnic table is listed among the site's amenities.
