Guide
Piano Rock is an isolated sandstone formation beside Valley of Fire’s Scenic Loop, just before the Arch Rock Campground entrance. Its broad, nearly level capstone spans sculpted lower rock, giving the formation a bridge-like outline. Treat it as a brief look along the drive rather than a hike or a major destination.
Route descriptions place the rock a few hundred meters after Windstone Arch and say it is visible from the road. There’s no sign marking it, and I couldn’t verify a dedicated turnout. Nevada State Parks asks visitors to park only in designated roadside locations, so keep going if there isn’t a legal place to stop. No formal trail to Piano Rock is established.
The long capstone and the sculpted sandstone beneath it are the features to look for. Shallow cavities in the lower face add texture to the arch-like silhouette. For a photo, include the full top slab and its supports so the span reads clearly.
