Ash River Campground

Ash River Campground is an eight-site drive-in campground in Kabetogama State Forest, beside the Ash River public landing and outside Voyageurs National Park. Its main draw is a straightforward land base for fishing, paddling, and getting onto the water toward Kabetogama or Namakan lakes. It suits a basic camping stop close to the water; this isn't a full-service resort.

Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. There is one accessible campsite and two accessible vault toilets. Drinking water comes from a well and is seasonal. Sites are first-come, first-served, so with only eight, keep another plan in mind. Expect a primitive setup.

The public landing is right beside camp, and the campground also has carry-in access. That makes it useful as a night-before base for fishing or paddling in the Ash River area. Most Voyageurs campsites are reached by water, so this is a practical land-based option near the Ash River gateway. Two August campers reported heavy mosquitoes, so late-summer stays can be buggy.
