Trail guide
Harden Lake Trail is a 5.8-mile out-and-back from White Wolf to a small, forest-ringed lake and nearby meadow. Plan on 2–4 hours; the park lists 390 feet of climbing on the return. It is a gentle route for its distance, with more time on an old road and in the woods than at open viewpoints. The payoff is a quiet waterside stop, not a dramatic Yosemite panorama.
From White Wolf, walk the gravel former Tioga Road as it follows the Middle Fork of the Tuolumne. The park places the lake junction 1.75 miles down the road; turn where the signs point to Harden Lake. The roadway is broad and generally smooth, then the forest route rolls over small rises on its way to the lake. Stay on the signed route, especially where branches continue toward the Grand Canyon.
Harden Lake is small and tree-lined, with a meadow beside the near shore. The view is more intimate than panoramic; the appeal is the quiet water, rocks, and forest. The meadow can have wildflowers in early summer, often June or early July, though bloom timing varies. The mapped line ends a few hundred feet before the shoreline; keep following the signed trail to the lake.
