Awaroa Campsite is a tent-only campground with 18 non-powered sites beside an estuary on the Abel Tasman Coast Track. You can walk in or arrive by boat; there is no road access. Think of it as a booked overnight stop on the trail, not a beach campsite. Reservations are required year-round.

The main Coast Track route drops from a lookout over Awaroa Bay to the campsite and hut. A separate branch leads down to the beach for water-taxi access; reaching camp from that shore route can mean walking below the high-tide line and wading. The Awaroa Inlet crossing window is from 1½ hours before to 2 hours after low tide, in daylight only. Tide height, storm surges and heavy rain can change conditions, and there is no around-estuary alternative. Check tide tables and boat schedules before setting out.

The campsite has hand-washing sinks and a fireplace; fires are allowed only in the designated place when no fire ban is in force. Campground water is untreated, so boil it before drinking. There is no food for sale along the Coast Track, so bring your meals. Campers describe a kitchen building and toilets. The site gets good winter sun, while mosquitoes and sandflies recur in visitor reports; bring repellent. Dogs are not allowed.
