Hiking Bubble Pond Shore Walk

What the walk coversBubble Pond Shore Walk is an easy out-and-back on a gravel carriage road along the pond’s west…

Bubble Pond Shore Walk is an easy out-and-back on a gravel carriage road along the pond’s west shore. This version follows the shoreline to the pond’s south end and returns the same way: about 1.3 miles round trip, roughly 0.7 mile each way. Allow 35–45 minutes if you stop to look across the water. The National Park Service recommends the Bubble Pond road for visitors using mobility aids, but the surface is gravel and the road is shared, so suitability still depends on your needs. NPS does not publish a separate distance or signed turnaround for this short walk; this route turns at the south shore before the carriage road continues into the longer network.

Along the waterThe broad gravel road follows the wooded bank beside Bubble Pond.

The broad gravel road follows the wooded bank beside Bubble Pond. Look across the water toward Cadillac Mountain’s western face. For a photo, let the curving road lead into the view, with the pond and its rocky edge on the other side. The route is easy to follow, but keep an ear out for cyclists and give horses room; this is a shared carriage road, not a foot-only trail.

Access and rulesStart at the Bubble Pond parking area on Park Loop Road.

Start at the Bubble Pond parking area on Park Loop Road. NPS lists accessible parking and restrooms there. A park entrance pass is required year-round, and dogs are allowed on the carriage road on a leash no longer than six feet. Stay to the right, give a clear warning before passing, and respect spring mud-season closures. There is no food or drinking-water service on this short walk, so bring what you need.
