Algonquin Art Centre

Algonquin Art Centre is a seasonal gallery on a small rise at kilometre 20 of Highway 60, beside Found Lake. It has three indoor gallery wings, an outdoor gallery and the Green Gazebo. The centre occupies the original Park Museum, created in 1953 and converted to the Art Centre in 2005. Its stone entrance and long, low log wings give the building the feel of a hollow sculpture before you even step inside. For a photo, keep the stacked-stone entrance and at least one dark log wing in the frame; a tight crop loses the building’s shape.

Found Lake sits right beside the centre, and the outdoor gallery gives you a reason to step outside between rooms. The Green Gazebo is the light-food option for treats, tea and coffee, rather than a full meal stop. Parking and public washrooms are available at the centre; the specific washroom type isn’t clear.
