A century-old retreat (since 1917) tucked on Cache Lake, Bartlett Lodge is the quiet, classic way to do Algonquin: boat-access only, heritage buildings, and dinner that’s a highlight of the day. The lake is calm—no high‑horsepower motors—so evenings bring loon calls instead of engine noise.
Stays run on a Modified American Plan: hot breakfast and a four‑course dinner are included. Menus lean seasonal and local, served in the park’s most historic dining room. Dinner is by reservation with two seatings (6:00 pm and 8:00 pm). Notably, the dining room isn’t licensed—bring your own wine, beer, or spirits, with no corkage. You can preorder picnic lunches for hiking or paddling days.
Use of canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, and mountain bikes is included, plus multiple docks (including swimming docks) for easy water access. There’s a simple 2 km Moose Trail on-site, guided outings that dig into park history and nature, and an evening fire pit tended by staff. Expect regular sightings of chipmunks, red squirrels, pine martens, and—always—loons.
You’ll park at the Cache Lake Access Point on Highway 60 (km 23.5); the lodge’s water taxi ferries you across. Check‑in is 3:00 pm; check‑out 11:00 am, with luggage storage and facility use if you arrive early or linger late. Two Level‑2 EV chargers are available on site (paid via the FLO app). The lodge is pet‑free.
Bartlett runs seasonally—open May 9 to October 26, 2025. For warm water and long days, aim for July–August. For photography and hiking, late September to early October often brings peak color along Highway 60. Dinner seatings can book up—reserve as soon as you lock in dates.
If you want heritage character, boat‑in seclusion, and a legit culinary program bundled with your stay, this is the sweet spot. You’re trading TVs and city‑speed internet for silence, canoes at the dock, and a dining room that feels like a tradition.
