Hiking Yellow Trail (Arowhon Pines)

A short bay walkYellow Trail is a hilly out-and-back along Little Joe Lake's bay, about 2.

Yellow Trail is a hilly out-and-back along Little Joe Lake's bay, about 2.12 miles round trip through hardwood forest. Arowhon Pines estimates 30 minutes each way, so allow about an hour. The main payoff is a lake-edge view back toward the lodge. This is a useful short walk if you're staying at Arowhon Pines; confirm access before planning a separate visit, because the route starts on lodge grounds and I found no day-visitor permission.

Where to turnA small creek marks the end of the Yellow route.

A small creek marks the end of the Yellow route. Yellow markers lead to it; white markers begin just beyond, where the longer White Trail continues. Turn back at the creek to keep this outing to Yellow Trail. The White Trail adds a substantial walk, with the lodge estimating about 65 minutes each way to another creek at the south end of Baby Joe Lake.

What to expectExpect a hilly footpath through hardwoods and one small creek crossing.

Expect a hilly footpath through hardwoods and one small creek crossing. The lodge asks walkers to stay with the markers because moose and deer tracks can resemble the trail. No public trailhead parking or day-visitor access details were verified; check with Arowhon Pines before driving in. Its pet rule for this trail was also not established.
