Twin Lakes Overlook is a small gravel layby on US 212 above two alpine lakes near the Montana-Wyoming line. The main payoff is right at the turnout: a wide view over the lakes and their rocky mountain basin. It's a worthwhile brief pause on the Beartooth Highway if you want the panorama without taking time for a separate walk to the shore. For a photo, keep the rocky foreground and ridges around the lakes in frame; a tight crop of the water loses the scale of the basin.

Watch for the turnoutThe pullout is unmarked and easy to pass.

The pullout is unmarked and easy to pass. If you're driving from Red Lodge toward Yellowstone, watch around the state line for the small gravel layby. This is a short roadside stop, not the lakeshore trail; you don't have to hike down to get the overlook's view.
