A public beach and working access point

Summercloud Bay is an ocean beach and public recreation area on Wreck Bay Community land, beside Booderee National Park. Surfing is its signature, but the stop also serves a regional boat ramp, picnic area and starting point for walks and beaches in Booderee. Come for the surf, a launch or a coastal walk; it works as a practical shore stop as well as somewhere to sit by the water.

“You're nearing Cave Beach's car park, with a walk through the day-use area to reach the sand. Come for the open ocean shore and surf; the caves are small, shallow openings in the rocky edge.”

Use Summercloud Bay Boat Ramp as the arrival point rather than the bay's map center. Keep the public recreation area separate from Wreck Bay Village, which is private; don't route through the village. There is nearby parking, a picnic area and toilets. Pack food for a picnic; no food service was identified at the bay. The area also serves as a trailhead for beaches and walks in Booderee.

Surfing here has been part of Wreck Bay Community life across generations, with a strong connection to the surrounding land and sea. Visitors often remark on the clear water and coastal views, though wind and surf can change the feel of the water. For a photo, include the pale sweep of beach, blue-green water and the wooded headland together rather than filling the frame with open water.

More than 100 ancient Aboriginal sites have been recorded across Bherwerre Peninsula, including shell middens, rock shelters and stone-working places. Some may date to around 6,000 years ago, when sea level settled near its present range. These are peninsula-wide records, not a claim that every site is at the public ramp.
