Harriet Keeler Memorial Picnic Area is a public picnic spot in Brecksville Reservation, across from Brecksville Nature Center. Its open-sided shelter has picnic tables and grills, with a play area and horseshoe pits nearby. Come for a meal or a family break, then use the trail access if you want to add a walk. The park lists parking, restrooms, a drinking fountain and electricity. There is no food service listed here, so bring what you would like to eat.

This works well as a picnic-and-walk break, rather than a place to build a whole day around. Trails connect from the area, and the play space gives children something to do while you settle in. The horseshoe pits are another option, though the park does not say whether equipment is supplied.

The rustic sandstone-and-wood shelterhouse was built around 1928 with materials from the park grounds. The WPA added a rear T-shaped section in 1937; Brecksville Nature Center followed in 1939. The building is part of the stop’s appeal, not just a roof over the picnic tables.

Harriet Keeler was a Cleveland educator, author, botanist and suffragist who wrote guides to native plants. After her death in 1921, supporters helped preserve more than 300 acres along Chippewa Creek in her memory, chosen for its varied plant life. The granite memorial boulder and bronze profile plaque are a separate nearby feature at a trail entrance, not part of the picnic shelter.
