Daintree Rainforest Village

Daintree Rainforest Village is a campground, general store and fuel station on a 20-acre property in Diwan, about 15 km north of the Daintree River ferry. It’s more service stop than sightseeing attraction, but it’s a handy place to refuel and restock before continuing along Cape Tribulation Road. The campground also works as a base for nearby rainforest walks, swimming holes and beaches.

The pumps offer unleaded, premium and diesel. The shop carries everyday groceries, seasonal tropical fruit, snacks and camping basics, plus hot pies for a quick meal without adding another stop.

The grounds mix open grassy sites with rainforest and tropical gardens, with powered and unpowered pitches. Campers have hot showers, screened bathrooms, a coin laundry and a shared kitchen with BBQs and gas rings. Bring your own cookware; the kitchen sinks have cold water only. There’s a communal fire area, generators aren’t allowed, and there’s no chemical-toilet dump point onsite. The operator keeps the campground open year-round but lists limited sheltered sites in the wet season.

Visitors often praise the spacious, screened sites and mountain sunsets; some recommend the Mountain View sites. Cassowaries may wander through camp. They feed on local quandong, figs and cassowary plum, so give them room and never feed them.
