Dubuji Day-use Area

Dubuji is a large grassy day-use area in the Cape Tribulation section of Daintree National Park, reached from the signed car park on Cape Tribulation Road, about 34 km north of the Daintree ferry. Picnic tables, some under shelters, and flush toilets make this a useful place to stretch a long drive. Bring a picnic if you’d like to eat here. Wheelchair access is listed for both the area and boardwalk, though assistance may be needed.

The Dubuji Boardwalk starts here and runs through lowland rainforest and mangroves, crossing a spring-fed creek. Interpretation panels explain how plants and animals handle this wet coastal habitat. Myall Beach is close by, but it’s a separate stop; this is a picnic base and boardwalk start.

The Ulysses butterfly is one of Dubuji’s wildlife highlights. In summer, pied imperial-pigeons arrive from New Guinea to feed and breed in the rainforest; in winter, scan offshore for humpback whale spouts. They’re wild sightings, so treat them as a bonus. If you continue toward the beach or water, follow crocodile and marine-stinger warnings and give cassowaries space.

Dubuji is translated as “place of spirits.” The day-use area sits within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, known for its biological diversity and evolutionary history. This is a low-key stop whose payoff is a shaded break and an easy transition into rainforest and mangroves, not a major viewpoint.
