Trail guide
This is the blue-waymarked accessible route from the Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre car park down to the riverside picnic site on the Afon Eden. It is a there-and-back walk, and the official distance of 1 mile (1.7 km) is the full round trip, not one way. Allow about 45 minutes, with roughly 52 feet (15 m) of climb on the return. Follow the blue waymarkers from the visitor centre.
From the car park the path drops steadily through mixed woodland, easing along as the trees open toward the valley floor. The payoff is the picnic site beside the water, where the Afon Eden runs over rocks and there is space to sit for a while. When you are ready, you retrace the same route back up to the centre.
The only real effort is the gentle gradient on the way back, and nothing here feels like mountain walking. The path is well surfaced and about 2 m wide throughout, with no steps or stiles and a gradient of no more than 10% (1 in 10).
This is the graded accessible trail at Coed y Brenin and it is suitable for wheelchairs, with resting points at least every 100 m. There is tactile sculpture along the way, and accessible picnic tables and toilets at the visitor centre.
Do not confuse this with the yellow-waymarked 2b Afon Eden Riverside Loop, which is a separate route with its own waymarkers and figures; stay with the blue markers for the accessible there-and-back. Dogs are welcome if kept under control. Take the usual care near the water at the picnic site, especially with children.
