Guide
There is a roadside car park and beach access. There are no public toilets at the arch, so plan a restroom stop elsewhere. Frame the arch with the bronze roadworkers if you want the picture to show the memorial as well as the road name, and take it from the visitor area rather than stepping into the roadway.
Returned servicemen built the Great Ocean Road after World War I. The road and arch commemorate their work and sacrifice, and the bronze figures beside the arch put the people behind the project in view. The original sign remains on the arch, even though the structure has been rebuilt.
