Trail guide
Rogers Warm Spring Loop is a brief paved circuit from the Rogers Spring parking lot to the spring pool and back around the picnic paths. The best-supported connected route from the lot measures about 0.11 miles and is nearly level. One published figure gives 0.2 miles, but the National Park Service map does not draw the full route; treat the exact distance and loop edge as approximate. Allow around 30 minutes if you want to linger. This is an easy spring-side stop, separate from the longer uphill route toward Rogers Spring Overlook.
Two approaches lead down from the parking area: a paved accessible walk and a stair route. The short mapped circuit follows connected hard-surface paths beside the pool and returns to the lot. A bridge crosses the spring outflow; use-trails continue into the desert beyond the dike, outside this short loop. The spring emerges from a hillside cave into a shallow pool about 50 feet across, edged with cattails, saltcedar, shrubs and palms. For a photo, stand along the paved edge and frame the pool with the palm oasis and picnic shelter behind it.
Rogers is one of Lake Mead's high-priority springs because of its size and concentration of unusual aquatic life. Relict leopard frogs live at several park springs, though a sighting here is never guaranteed. The spring's riparian strip attracts birds and dragonflies, and desert bighorn sometimes visit for water in summer. The California fan palms are non-native to this part of the Mojave.
The picnic area has four tables, four grills and restrooms, but no drinking water or food service. Bring water and plan for desert heat even on this short walk. Pets are allowed on park trails; keep them leashed to six feet or less. If you enter the spring, keep your head above water or plug your nose because of the rare but serious Naegleria fowleri risk, and follow posted warnings.
