Start at Lochgoilhead Arboretum car park, off Hall Road opposite Lochgoilhead Primary School. If that lot is full, a council-run car park in Lochgoilhead village is the alternative.

Trail guide
Glen Donich Trail is a steep out-and-back from Lochgoilhead to Donich Waterfalls at the head of a wooded glen. It follows an old Argyll road along the edge of Ardgoil Forest. From the Arboretum car park, allow about 4 km (2.5 mi) for the return, roughly 2 km each way with the village approach, and around 1½ hours. The waterfall is the destination; there isn't a loop, so you'll retrace the same route. It's a short outing, but not a gentle woodland stroll.
From the car park, a short village approach joins the old forest path. The route then follows the glen toward the falls, with uneven gravel underfoot and rough, narrow rocky sections. A steep stretch runs for about 600 m, with rough steps and a gate; muddy patches can slow you further. Footing and grade, more than distance, set the pace. Take your time through the rockier sections, especially on the way back down.
At the head of the glen, Donich Water drops over rocky shelves beneath trees. The falls are especially impressive after heavy rain, and a footbridge near the water gives you a close look before you turn back. For a photo, include some of the bridge rail beside the water; it gives the cascades scale. The enclosed woodland makes the waterfall feel tucked away, but the climb is part of the deal. I'd choose this for the falls, not for an easy short forest wander.
