Tickets, parking and the ride in

Ticket desks are at Entrance 2, and the park recommends booking ahead because entrance tickets can sell out. Parking is paid at the entrances when you leave. The lake programs combine walking with the park’s electric boat and panoramic vehicle, depending on the route you choose; ticketed visitors can use toilets at the park’s stopping stations. A bus stop is beside the entrance, and dogs are allowed on a leash, including on boats and trains.

“Up ahead is the arrival area for Entrance Two, with the ticket gate farther inside the complex. For the Upper Lakes, Program E is a good choice: allow two to three hours for the boat crossing, lake walk and return ride.”

Entrance 2 is Plitvice Lakes’ southern arrival complex on D1 and the starting point for several lake circuits. The driving pin is at the roadside arrival area; the ticket office and internal gate sit about 400 metres west within the same complex. Choose it when you want to begin at the Upper Lakes or follow one of the longer routes across the park.

Choose a route before setting outProgram E is the shorter Upper Lakes circuit: 5.

Program E is the shorter Upper Lakes circuit: 5.1 km and about 2–3 hours, with a boat crossing on Lake Kozjak, a walk toward Prošćansko Lake and a sightseeing-train return. Program F takes 4.6 km and about 3–4 hours through the Lower Lakes canyon to Great Waterfall, then climbs a steep serpentine to viewpoints on the east side before the panoramic vehicle ride back. H links both lake areas in 8.9 km and about 4–6 hours. K2 is the long walking option at 16.5 km and about 6–8 hours.

What you get from this entranceThe entrance itself is an arrival point, not a lake overlook.

The entrance itself is an arrival point, not a lake overlook. The payoff comes along the route: wooded Upper Lakes shores and the Prštavci waterfalls on E, or the Lower Lakes canyon, Great Waterfall and dark-blue lake views on F and H. Several route lengths start here, so decide how many hours you want to spend before choosing your ticket.

Visitors report mixed parking availability and different walks between their space and the gate, so don’t count on parking right beside the ticket desk. Some prefer this entrance for a calmer start than the Great Waterfall area, but that doesn’t guarantee a quiet day deeper in the park; boat and vehicle queues can still affect the route.
