Currawong Flat is a shady picnic area beside the Hacking River in Royal National Park’s Audley precinct. It suits a slow lunch and time on the water: settle under the she-oaks, then paddle or fish along the river. Tables, free gas and electric barbecues, flush toilets, drinking water and a carpark make it easy to stay a while.
Canoe hire is available at nearby Audley Weir, and the Weir Cafe is a short stroll away if you’d rather buy a meal. These are separate nearby stops, so bring your own food if you want to stay at the picnic tables.
