Bonnie Vale Riverbank and Picnic Area“Bonnie Vale is coming up, with a sandy spit and sheltered water for a relaxed swim or paddle. I'd choose the shady picnic lawn if you want a waterside break without a long walk.”

Trail guide
This is an easy out-and-back of about 1 mile round trip from the signed track beside Bonnie Vale campground’s toilet blocks to Maianbar’s streets. Follow the sandy path to the creek footbridge, climb through bush to Pacific Crescent, then return the same way. Allow about 30 minutes with a pause at the water.
The footbridge passes over a creek lined with mangroves. It is the walk’s clearest pause point: look down to the water and trees, then continue across the short metal steps at the bridge ends.
Beyond the crossing, a bush path climbs in a few steeper pitches before reaching the streets at the Maianbar end. The water views appear between hillside houses rather than at a formal lookout. The return uses the same path, so you repeat the climb in the opposite direction.
Start at the walking-track sign beside the campground toilets. Bonnie Vale’s developed area has parking, toilets, drinking water, picnic tables and BBQs. Maianbar Beach Cafe is a separate stop in town near the end of the walk, not a trail facility. Pets are not allowed in Royal National Park; certified assistance animals are permitted.
