Getting There & Logistics
Access is via Warumbul Road, an unsealed road; 2WD is fine in dry weather but a 4WD is recommended when it’s wet. Expect a rough final kilometre with potholes, so drive slowly. Keys and boom‑gate access are arranged by the managers. No pets. If you’re arriving without a car, a pick‑up from Sutherland Station can be pre‑arranged.

- On the water: swim, canoe or fish on the river (NSW fishing licence required).
- Short outings: Warumbul Picnic Area is close by; Winifred Falls walking track makes a great half‑day.
- Classic bushwalks: Lady Carrington Drive (historic riverside route with abundant birdlife) and the Forest Path (4.4km loop through lush rainforest) are easy wins from the cottage.
- Heritage fix: the Audley precinct’s historic buildings are a short drive away, with a monthly guided heritage tour.

Around the cottage you’re likely to spot goannas, wallabies and eastern water dragons along the riverbanks. Bird‑lovers will find plenty to watch across the park, from sulphur‑crested cockatoos and crimson rosellas to yellow‑tailed black‑cockatoos and rainbow lorikeets.
Best Time to Visit
Aim to arrive during the 2–4pm check‑in window and in daylight to handle the unsealed road comfortably. After heavy rain, conditions can be challenging for 2WD. The park may close during poor weather or high fire danger, so check alerts before you go. The park’s general opening hours run 7am–8:30pm.
