Guide
Weemalah Cottage is a self-contained, three-bedroom cottage on the foreshore of the Hacking River at Warumbul; it sleeps up to six. Treat it as a booked stay, not a walk-in attraction: the locked approach and cottage grounds are for guests. It suits a group looking to slow down by the water, rather than a quick sightseeing stop.
The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, oven and cooking gear, with drinking water, a gas barbecue, hot shower and two flush toilets. For supplies, NPWS points to shops in Sutherland and Engadine; Audley Dance Hall Café is a separate option for coffee and refreshments. Solar and LPG-generator power is limited: avoid running several appliances at once, and appliances over 1,500 watts are not permitted. Mobile service reaches the cottage, but there is no Wi-Fi.
The riverfront is the draw: swim, canoe or fish, then unwind on the verandah. The water can be busy with boats and jet skis in summer, so it will not always feel secluded. Fishing requires a current NSW recreational fishing licence.
