NPS recommends starting the Knob Mountain–Jeremys Run loop from nearby Elkwallow Wayside; use this overlook as a scenic preview rather than your trailhead. If you do head into the valley, know the Jeremys Run Trail features numerous stream crossings that can be tricky after rain. Some sources note a short connector here that reaches the Appalachian Trail, but the overlook is not the official start for local loops.
