Getting There & Logistics
This is a roadside overlook—pull over, step out, and you’re at the view. Parking is just a small pullout and can fill during peak times. There are no restrooms, water, or services here, so plan those stops elsewhere on Skyline Drive.
Nearby Hike (Separate from the Overlook)
The strenuous Little Devils Stairs Trail runs up the gorge with stream crossings, rock scrambles, and small cascades. Most guides recommend hiking it from the bottom at the Keyser Run parking area off VA 670, not from the overlook.
Photography Notes
Morning and late-afternoon light sculpt the gorge’s contours best. Clear nights can be excellent for night-sky shots. Bring a longer lens if you want to pick out distant peaks.
Wildlife
Keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and the occasional black bear in the broader area. Binoculars make the most of raptor watching over the gorge.
