Best time to go
The parkway closes to vehicles from November through May and reopens when conditions allow. Winter access on foot or by bicycle may still be possible, but Parks Canada warns that day-use areas may not be maintained after heavy snow.

Guide
Lost Horse Creek is a small picnic area on the Red Rock Parkway, with one covered shelter, a stove, four picnic tables and dry toilets. It makes a useful meal break on the 15 km drive up Blakiston Valley toward Red Rock Canyon. The shelter cannot be reserved, and firewood is not provided, so bring your own if you plan to use the stove.
The parkway travels through rolling grasslands up Blakiston Valley and ends at Red Rock Canyon. Lost Horse Creek is one of the picnic stops along the way, so it fits naturally into that drive.
