Guide
Waiho Hot Tubs is a bookable set of private, wood-fired soaking tubs tucked into a leafy corner of Franz Josef. Each booking gets its own tub for an hour, making this a good place to slow down between walks in glacier country.
The tubs use fresh mountain-stream water heated by wood fires. You can cool the water to find a temperature that suits you, so the soak is easy to tailor once you’re in.
Short paths connect the separate soaking areas among ferns and other rainforest plants. The green setting is part of the experience, and a rainy soak can feel especially atmospheric.
Allow a full hour and reserve a session ahead. Towels, drinking water and access to a private hot-water shower are included; you can bring your own nibbles and drinks. Check the current booking details for session timing and age rules.
