Permits, road and water

A backcountry permit is mandatory, and most campsites need advance reservations in July, August and September. Yoho Valley Road usually opens from mid-June to mid-October; RVs and trailers can't use its tight switchbacks. Treat all surface water before drinking. Designated backcountry camps in popular areas may have tent pads, outhouses, food storage and picnic tables, but this site's exact setup isn't itemized. Plan to carry your meals for the overnight.
