Twin Falls

Twin Falls is a double cascade deeper in the forested Yoho Valley, reached by a long hike along the Yoho River. It’s a full-day destination, not a roadside stop: from Takakkaw Falls parking, plan on about 16 km return and roughly six hours. The trail is rated moderate, but the distance is the real commitment. Go if you want the paired falls and a long valley walk; skip it if you only have time for a quick stop.

Laughing Falls is 4.5 km from the parking area; continue another 3.9 km to Twin Falls. The trail follows the river through forest, so this is a valley walk as much as a waterfall destination. You can loop back to Laughing Falls by way of Marpole Lake, instead of retracing the exact approach.

The falls form two streams on one rocky wall. A short loop gives several angles, including views from beside the river and below the cascades; the Twin Falls Tea House above them also looks out on the pair. For a photo, keep both falls and some of the cliff in frame so their twin shape reads clearly.

The Twin Falls Tea House is a separate historic log building above the water. The Canadian Pacific Railway built it in the early 1900s. It welcomed day hikers and overnight guests for more than a century; the Alpine Club of Canada manages it today.
