Parking

Park to the side of Cathedral Road at the roadside trail start, about 1.8 miles north of the Hartnet/Cathedral Roads junction. The Park Service gives the access as about 28.1 miles from UT-24 via Cathedral Road; no dedicated lot was identified.

Safety

The Cathedral District routes are unofficial and unmaintained; the Park Service says routefinding, navigation and map-reading skills are important. A wash on the walk may have shallow flowing water. Access roads require high clearance, with four-wheel drive often recommended; bentonite clay and soft sand can become impassable when wet, and the roads are not plowed in winter. There is no potable water in Cathedral Valley. The Hartnet Road approach from UT-24 crosses the Fremont River without a bridge.

Paul Christensen built the cabin in the 1920s as a summer house, and Lesley Morrell moved it to Cathedral Valley around 1935. It served as a cowboy camp until 1970, when the Morrell family sold it to the Park Service. You can look through the windows at the interior; the remains of a small corral lie south of the cabin near another wash.
