Apgar Village

Apgar Village is the park’s main lakeside hub at the lower end of Lake McDonald, just inside the west side. It’s compact, walkable, and puts almost everything you need—views, services, and logistics—within a few minutes’ stroll.

Apgar serves as a transit hub: board the free park shuttle here and arrange historic Red Bus tours. If you want to explore without the parking stress, this is the smartest place to start.

Bringing your own watercraft? Plan time for aquatic invasive species (AIS) inspection in Apgar before launching. If you’d rather keep it simple, rent a canoe or kayak on site and be on the water in minutes.
