This developed campground sits around 7,500 feet in pinyon-juniper forest, with larger ponderosa pines and gray cliffs around the valley. It is a good choice for a peaceful night and a base for Baker Lakes hikes, not a quick roadside stop. Visitors often praise the dark skies and quiet. Individual sites vary: some feel wooded and creek-adjacent; others open to valley and mountain views.
Take Baker Creek Road about three miles to the campground; the unpaved approach can be dusty and washboarded. The campground generally opens from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting. Book through Recreation.gov when it is open. There is no potable water, food service, store, shower, or RV hookup, so bring the water and meals you will need.
