Guide
Frijole Horse Corral Campground is the park's only horse-user facility on the east side: a reservation-only group campsite off Frijole Ranch Road, just off US 62/180. It's about a mile east of Pine Springs Visitor Center, at roughly 5,400 feet. The single group site has two tent pads and parking for two RVs or horse trailers, with a corral for up to 10 animals.
The site is about 100 yards from busy US 62/180, with little privacy and truck noise that can carry day and night. The tradeoff is a broad view toward Hunter Peak, El Capitan, and Guadalupe Peak. Recreation.gov describes the night sky as nearly pristine, but this is a working horse camp, not a quiet, tucked-away campground. Gusts over 50 mph are common in winter and spring.
NPS lists year-round vault toilets and potable water. One visitor reported not finding water, so confirm it with the park before you count on a refill. There is an accessible parking space, an accessible path to the toilet, and an accessible tent pad; the gravel parking and trailer area is uneven. There is no camp store or food service here, so bring your supplies.
