Timber Ridge Trail

Timber Ridge Trail is a one-mile, one-way connector from the Newton Road access to the Fayetteville Trail near Wolf Creek. It follows an old forested roadbed and is rated easy. Allow about 30 minutes for this leg; that is a practical estimate for the short route, not a posted itinerary. Use it to link into a longer Fayetteville-area hike rather than expecting a loop or a major viewpoint.

The one-mile figure is one way. Continue onto the Fayetteville Trail for a longer walk, or turn back along Timber Ridge for about two miles round trip. There is no loop on this route, so decide whether you have a pickup or enough time and energy to retrace the corridor before setting out.

Expect a wooded path through hardwoods, with rhododendrons along parts of the route. The appeal is the forested connector itself, not a summit or overlook; Long Point is a separate destination on its own trail. The Fayetteville-area trail network has a volunteer-built history: local school, scout, bicycle and hiking groups contributed hundreds of hours, with an IMBA Trail Care Crew helping with design and construction. That history belongs to the broader network rather than a documented build date for this exact segment.

Pets are allowed, but keep them on a physical leash no longer than six feet. There is no drinking water at the trailheads, so bring what you and your dog need.
