Golden West Visitor Center is an information and exhibit stop inside the historic Golden West Lodge, a short uphill walk from Stehekin Landing at the north end of Lake Chelan. It gives this remote valley a place to get oriented, but it is not a roadside visitor center.
A relief map and exhibits on Stehekin's natural and cultural history put the valley in context. The information desk and books and maps are practical for choosing what to explore next, so this is a short orientation stop rather than a separate full-day attraction.
There is no road access to Stehekin. Visitors arrive by passenger ferry, trail, or float plane, then walk from the landing to the lodge. Build the center into a visit already planned around Stehekin, and check its operating status before counting on a staffed desk or indoor exhibits.
