The walk follows estate drives and pale compacted track through the grounds, with views towards The Cage and the deer sanctuary. East Lodge is the turn-around. The Cage started as a hunting lodge in 1580 and was rebuilt in 1737; Lyme's native red deer have been here for more than 600 years. The route is more about space and views than a dramatic destination.
