Waterfall Flat is a grassy picnic area beside McKell Avenue near Waterfall, with an open lawn edged by heath and trees. It works best as a simple lunch stop or breather on a day in Royal National Park, rather than a destination to build the day around. Bring food with you; no food outlet is listed here.
The surrounding heath is the stop’s most distinctive natural detail. Lewin’s honeyeaters and wattlebirds feed on nectar there, so pause and look along the heath edge; they are possible sightings, not a guarantee. Couranga walking track and Forest path are nearby options if you want a longer walk.
