Trail Experience
You’ll start on Lady Carrington Drive: a wide, stony, near-flat path flanked by tall trees and thick fern undergrowth. After roughly 900 m, the character shifts as you duck into denser rainforest—light dims, vines drape across the track, and you’ll often hear the creek before you see it. The track remains easy, with only short stair sets and occasional roots/rocks to watch. Benches pop up in prime, quiet spots—use them to sit and let the birdsong and trickling water do their thing. Keep an eye out for cabbage tree palms and, if you’re lucky, a lyrebird scratching in the leaf litter.
Logistics
Parking is at the signed Forest Path area near the stone gates on Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, accessing the southern end of Lady Carrington Drive. A vehicle entry fee applies to the park ($12 per day). Typical opening hours are 7:00 am–8:30 pm. The loop is clearly formed, though a few signs can make the distance feel ambiguous—count on about 4.4 km.
Conditions and Cautions
After rain, expect muddy and slippery patches, and be prepared for leeches in wetter sections. The track is otherwise straightforward, but you’ll find short stairs and the usual forest trip hazards. Mobile reception can be patchy—download what you need before you go and carry basics.

Good year‑round. Overcast or post‑rain days amplify the rainforest vibe (and the leeches—dress accordingly). Mornings offer cooler temps, softer light under the canopy, and easier parking. Weekdays are quieter.

Bring water, sun protection (yes, even in the shade), sturdy shoes, and a light rain layer. If you’re keen to go longer, link near the end with Couranga Track toward Waterfall: add roughly 10 km return, or about 5 km if you exit one‑way to the train station.
