More about Beldor Hollow Overlook

A quick Skyline Drive stopBeldor Hollow Overlook is a small roadside pullout on Skyline Drive at mile 72.

Beldor Hollow Overlook is a small roadside pullout on Skyline Drive at mile 72.2, about 2,345 feet above sea level. Stop for a short look at the Blue Ridge; this is a widened stretch of road, not a plaza or a destination hike. Heading south, it previews the ridges ahead; heading north, it looks back along the route.

Look from both endsTrees divide the outlook.

Trees divide the outlook. From the north end there is a narrow view of Rocky Mount; from the south, look down Beldor Hollow and across several Blue Ridge crests, with Skyline Drive visible among the ridges. Spend a moment at both ends, since the openings frame different parts of the landscape. For a photo, use the south end to frame the hollow below the layered ridges.

The hollow belowBeldor Hollow is a long hollow that runs below and to the right of the overlook.

Beldor Hollow is a long hollow that runs below and to the right of the overlook. That landform gives the pullout its name, while the distant ridges and the road winding among them fill the broader view.
