Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide

Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide is a 37-room hotel above 2,000 m in the Las Cañadas caldera. It makes the most sense as an overnight base for the park, or as a meal paired with the nearby Roques de García, rather than a generic café stop. It is about 70 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and reached by road from several parts of the island. Outdoor parking is available, though its capacity and fees aren't clear. If you're only coming to eat, confirm day-visitor access before making the drive; the cafeteria and restaurant information doesn't clearly settle which services welcome non-guests.

The restaurant serves traditional Canarian cooking. Its menu names papas arrugadas with mojo, rabbit in salmorejo, highland-style goat stew and cherne, the island's wreckfish. That's a good cross-section of local dishes to look for, though menus can change. The dining room looks toward Teide and Montaña de Guajara, so the high caldera setting is part of the meal.

The Parador sits close to Roques de García, a group of dramatic rock formations shaped by wind over thousands of years. Pick out Roque Cinchado with Teide behind it, one of the caldera's classic views. The formations are an easy nearby pairing for an overnight stay or meal, and give you a reason to get out and explore before you settle in.

Cañada Blanca Visitor Centre is nearby, but it's a separate attraction. Opened in 2022, it follows human life in Las Cañadas from prehistory onward and explains the park's links to astronomy, geology and volcanology. Its audiovisual exhibits and viewpoint terrace add useful context to the landscape around the hotel.

In spring, Las Cañadas can turn red with Mount Teide bugloss flowers. The hotel also presents astronomy and stargazing as part of the overnight experience. That makes the Parador especially appealing if you'd like to stay in the caldera after dark, with the usual caveat that a starry sky depends on conditions.

The hotel describes itself as a mountain house and says it generates its own electricity and gets water from the mountain. That's a practical reminder of the setting: this is a remote, high-altitude stay in the caldera, not a hotel beside a town.
