Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves is a small Catholic chapel beside Cañada Blanca Visitor Center and the Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide, more than 2,000 metres above sea level. It’s an easy add-on if you’re already stopping here, but I wouldn’t plan a separate visit around getting inside: regular public hours aren’t posted, and visitors often find the door locked. Treat the interior as a bonus.

The nearby Parador and visitor-center area is where to look for food and toilets; those are separate facilities, not chapel amenities. Parking is shared with the wider visitor area rather than dedicated to the chapel.

The single rectangular nave has pale walls, grey-stone details and buttresses, with an arched porch and a circular opening beneath its bell gable. At more than 2,000 metres, it’s officially described as Spain’s highest-altitude Catholic church. The building itself is modest, so the volcanic surroundings are a big part of the stop. For a photo, include Teide rising beside the chapel to show how small the chapel is against the mountain.

The dedication and the interiorThe chapel is dedicated to Santa María la Mayor, also known as the Virgen de las Nieves.

The chapel is dedicated to Santa María la Mayor, also known as the Virgen de las Nieves. Inside, a white-marble Virgin and child stand by the altar, alongside a replica of the Cross of the 2011 World Youth Day in Madrid. If the door is open, those details give the quick stop a little more to look for.
